Family Destinations > Costa Rica
A HOT destination
There is something for everyone in Costa Rica, with the possible exception of very young children (under
4yrs), though check out the large picture below for documentary proof of
one of our clients enjoying the cloud forest with her toddler... Our agent Edmundo spent a couple of weeks touring Costa Rica, getting a feel for the different areas, and the sights and activities
offered. There are
a number of suppliers featuring package trips to this wonderful country
at quite reasonable prices. If these package trips are not to your liking, we can custom-plan your trip with you.

Costa
Rica is great. There is
so much to do there. You
can visit volcanoes, cloud forests, jungles, beaches, cities,
plains, each one with endless amounts of activities. |

One
of the things that I did was visit the Arenal volcano, one of the most
active (if not the most active) volcanoes in all of Central America.
The volcano spews lava every fifteen or twenty minutes.
The best time to see this occur is at sunset.
You can actually climb the side of the volcano to get a better
look. At the foot of the volcano
there are also hot springs that you can enjoy during the day - very therapeutic.
Also lake Arenal is one of the top 10 windsurfing destinations in
the world, during the months of December to April with very fast winds -
fast enough to take jumping lessons from one of the local experts.
Monteverde
is the most popular cloud forest in Costa Rica. Very interesting! Lots to
do. It is land purchased by
American Quakers escaping the Vietnam draft, and turned into a natural
cloud forest reserve. The Quakers
are still there and they have expanded the reserve since they first
started. They also do tours of the reserve.

In
and around Monteverde there is a lot to do.
They have a butterfly farm, a hummingbird gallery,
horseback riding, aerial trams, the Canopy tour, and walking in
the forest looking for birds, monkeys, and reptiles.
The canopy tour is something you do not want to miss.
You rappel from treetop to treetop on pulleys connected
to a wire that is strung from tree to tree.
Very exiting if you are not afraid of heights.
The longest one is about 300 feet across and 400 feet
high. Awesome! |
These
two sites are should be a definite in your Costa Rican planning, but
there is so much more.
