Article by Warna Roa, Owner/Manager

Visitors to the Mayan Riviera/Tulum Corridor area of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula will be amazed at the changes that have taken place over the past ten years. The small, beach community town of Playa Del Carmen, (also referred to as Playacar) noted for being the ferry gateway to the island of Cozumel, is now a focal point in this increasingly popular resort area.

The once almost deserted coastline, stretching for miles south of Cancun to Mexico's border with Belize, has become a major tourist area lined with very large, but mainly low rise, first class hotels.

Many of these resort style "all inclusive" hotels offer family vacationers an opportunity to enjoy a truly hassle-free, great beach vacation with something for everyone on site ... plus the opportunity to venture off property to experience excellent cultural and eco-tourism excursions.

Couple all of this with easy access from North America's major cities, the genuine friendliness of the Mexicans employed in the hospitality industry and this destination becomes an excellent choice for families who can afford to pay approximately $5000 (CDN) for a one week all inclusive holiday for a family of two adults and two children, under 12 years, sharing one room.

Families with infants (under two years of age) will incur additional costs if they want to have babysitting services, as the resorts in this area are not into "nursery care" and indeed most of the kids clubs are for kids from five to eleven.

No problem with entertaining the teenagers in your family as archeological, cultural and eco-tourism excursions are many and varied, but all are priced in $US so you'll want to do some research and plan carefully according to your personal budget.

Do we have our favorite resorts? Yes we do, and we'll be happy to share this information with you, but, unless you are looking for exciting nightlife, it is really hard to go wrong when choosing a resort in this area.
